I will add though, a bunch of people have been asking “what about Ed from Ed, Edd, n Eddy or Billy from Grim adventures?” well, I’ve thought about this quite a bit, and, at least for me, here is the difference

those shows were not attempting to impart positive values or teach lessons. Ed, Edd, n Eddy made fun of everyone from the trailer trash kanker sisters to Double D’s anale-retentive labeling to Rolf being the funny foreign kid, etc etc ad nauseum. And Billy and Mandy has some of the most gallows dark humor of any kids show out there. My Little pony is trying to teach acceptance and love and positive values on people. It also has a slightly younger demographic, which makes it much stickier
